Musings on Church

In order to work out what I think I should be doing about Church, I need to work out what I think Church should be all about. At the moment, this is what I see our priorities should be

-To work together in order to be God's hands and feet in blessing and showing love to the world, thus building the kingdom of Heaven as best we know how.
-To build a supportive community which encourages and provides signposts in the spiritual development of both those that are a part of it and those that aren't.

How is that best achieved?

Claire ~ I learned of your blog through Helen @ Conversation on the Edge. I like your thoughts... a community of loving people loving people in their greater community. I have spent a lifetime trying to answer your question and have come to the conclusion that there are many ways to accomplish the mission. I think it will need to be real and authentic, relationally based, and actively demonstrated.

it's a good question - what i find is that the ideal sounds good on paper but the reality is that church is messed up cos its full of messed up people - so i've kinda decided to stop imaging what other people should be doing and now try and do what i think church should be like myself. I guess it's like that ghandi saying of be the change in the world that you want to see?
